As mothers, we wear lots of hats and fulfill a number of roles. Some of these roles, whether we like it or not, define who we are and become our identity. I believe my calling is to be a mom, but it's not my only passion. Writing comes in a close second and so this blog will be my attempt to balance the two. There isn't just one topic I wanted to write about, so this blog will be a smattering of different ideas and thoughts.

Here I Stand--Business Decisions Based on Values?
This past week, Al Gore sold his television network, Current TV, to Al-Jezeera. Glen Beck's television network, The Blaze TV, wanted to enter into negotiations to purchase Current TV, but were denied. It doesn't bother me that Al Gore sold his company to Al-Jezeera; that's capitalism at it's best. What bothers me is that no one in the media is calling Al Gore out on the fact he made a business decision based on values. As we saw this summer with Chick-fil-A and recently with Hobby Lobby, as the media makes it out, business people should not be making business decisions based on values. What gives? Al Gore can decide not to sell to the Blaze because they "aren't aligned with [their] point of view" but the owner of Hobby Lobby can't make a decision not to pay for certain birth control because those birth control methods don't line up with his point of view?
